Lingfield Racecourse is an all weather track which hosts racing all year round. The course features Flat racing and has been open since 1890. For the first 4 years the course was jumps only but soon changed to Flat after it was given permission from the Jockey Club. The course is situated near Lingfield Park Golf Club and is a left handed triangular shape racecourse. The polytrack hosts 4 feature races throughout the racing calendar and is a very popular course in the middle of Kent, Sussex and Surrey,

Lingfield racecourse is 1 mile and 4 furlongs in circumference for the summer meetings and the winter course is 1 mile and 2 furlongs. On the flat course there is a uphill climb on the back straight which drops 6 furlongs from home. Making the finish a very fast thrilling race. The flat course is heavily undulating making it a tough ride for even the best horses.

The all weather course used in winter is generally pretty flat with sharp bends and a slight uphill climb on the side straight. When betting at Lingfield there is a bias depending on which track is being used. The all weather track doesn’t have any significant bias making it a fair race to ride, whereas the the straight course it’s best to bet on horses that are drawn high on the stand rail.

When the ground is soft, horses which are known for front running and fast gallopers are well suited and quite often come out of the race with a win at Lingfield. Popular jockeys to look out for at Lingfield Oisin Murphy, De Sousa and Jim Crowley. George Baker has had the most wins this season but has a strike rate of 21% with 100 runs.

The top trainer with the highest strike rate is Haggas. A solid 48% strike rate over 35 runners so definitely a trainer to look out for.

In February the Winter Derby is ran at Lingfield over 1 mile and 2 furlongs for Group 3 horses. In May there are 3 feature races which are the Chartwell Fillies Stakes, the Derby Trial Stakes and the Oaks Trial Fillies Stakes.
